Hi Bill,

I think you just search for me on Facebook and you invite me to be a "friend" and then I respond yes and so it goes.

I am delighted to hear that "Bookmark" will be continued - I really enjoy it and have already read one of the books that I heard about on your program. And I know of more that I plan to order through EPL.
It's a great program for authors and readers - I am so glad you were able to get the funding needed to continue. And I wish you continued success.

July 23: Good news!

I have just received word from CKUA that we have reached our fund-raising target for the “Bookmark” 2009-2010 production season and the show is on the air for another year!

To each of you who dug deep and supported this cause financially, to each of you who passed the word along to others, to each of you who listens to and supports the program and takes part in interviews and sharing feature ideas – a heartfelt THANK YOU!

“Bookmark” is not just a unilateral initiative by a few people … it is a broad-based co-operative effort by literally hundreds of people across Alberta to ensure the literary community and book trade in this province has a forum and a communication platform for reaching out to each other and to Albertans and to the world. You have more than proved that through this campaign.

So, I will no doubt be seeing or talking to some of you through the coming season as we organize a new round of interviews and features. Time to get to work!

Cheers,

Ken Davis
Host, “Bookmark,” CKUA Radio Network

Some kind words from the author of Gifted to Learn, Gloria Melmann:

Hi Jeff,

Wasn’t the event a success! Peter and I loved absolutely every minute of it.

The “Literary Cocktails” setting and people - heck, the concept itself, is an unbeatable combination. I wish I had it to do all over again. Having you and Cathie there gave such a boost to my confidence!

And thank you for the tour of the house. I loved climbing those little Dickensian back stairs and peeking into corners and hearing the creaky floor and inhaling the wonderful library smells. It is the place to be and I’m sure you can’t wait to get back to work each day.
Thank you so much for the coffee and the delicious home-made cookies.

And Jeff, I simply love your book of poetry, malachi on foot. It is to be read and read again and carried with one and opened again in any circumstance save a complete ride to the sun. “It is thirty-eight years east / eighty panes to see the world”
Thank you Jeff.

Pass my dear regards and thanks to Cathie, Peter, Donna, Tony, Michael and all the others who work such magic and nurturing on writing’s behalf.

Till next time,
Gloria

We all expect an excellent indexing job and Richard C. Davis doesn't fail here. I dare anyone to find the reference to a "counter jumper," a being also mentioned in the life of Jack Hornby.
